Doug is a Principal at MAI. With over 20 years of experience in the many facets of small and medium sized-enterprise economic development, Doug has been a consultant to national and international governments in developing regional and multi-regional sector strategies.  The implementation of those strategies has thereby increased employment, production and sales opportunities locally and internationally through exports.  The strategies themselves are supported by a developed and refined methodology with statistically-based market research paired with regional assessments. Doug has worked in cooperation with regional leaders and businesses to develop new public policy and identify resources to execute economic and trade initiatives.  He has also worked at the grass roots level bringing communities together around a common vision on issues such as education, zoning and greenspace.

Doug is skilled at developing methodology for seminars and workshops and is an expert facilitator. He worked at The Brookings Institution providing executive education seminars and has worked in over 20 countries bringing to the table substantive knowledge of economic development from jurisdictions throughout the world.
